What is CBG?
We’ve all heard of THC and CBD, but what in the world is CBG? CBG, or cannabigerol, is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBG is sometimes referred to as the “mother of all cannabinoids” meaning that it is the chemical parent of which THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids are formed.
By providing non-intoxicating effects, CBG can be a great cannabinoid for people looking to stay focused and functional. Being both antifungal and antibacterial, CBG has been shown to offer relief for glaucoma, IBS, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Because CBG binds to both CB1 and CB2 receptors in our endocannabinoid system, it is believed to play a role in enhancing pleasure and motivation, regulating appetite, digestion, sleep, and alleviating pain.
CBG is typically found in small quantities in cannabis compared to THC and CBD. However, with advancements in cultivation techniques, breeders are developing cannabis strains that are high in CBG content. It can be consumed in various forms, including oils, capsules, and even topicals. We love offering multiple ways of ingesting CBG at Farmer’s Friend Extracts.
For our FECO2, Full Extract Cannabis Oil, we always aim to offer a CBG-rich strain.
For our CBG-rich tinctures, we offer a non-intoxicating CBG:CBD, a more stimulating CBG:THC, and a chill 1:1:1:1 - CBG:CBN:CBD:THC.
And a huge fan favorite, our CBG-rich full spectrum cartridges provide just the right amount of relief while staying light and happy.
CBG is having its time in the spotlight! While research is still in the early stages, the potential benefits of CBG are promising. As scientists continue to unlock the mysteries of cannabinoids, CBG stands poised to play a significant role in the future of therapeutic cannabis use.
And as a reminder, just like with any potent, powerful medicine, CBG may have both positive and negative potentials. As always, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider before using CBG, especially if you’re currently taking medications or have underlying health conditions.
